Your files and text
Files you select are read, compared, merged, copied, and prepared for download locally in your browser. MergeGlass does not upload or store their contents, filenames, or combined output on its servers.
Local recovery and offline use
MergeGlass can save review sessions in this browser using IndexedDB when you explicitly save or enable autosave. New sessions are temporary by default. Saved sessions and autosave data stay local to this browser profile and can be deleted from the session manager or removed when browser site data is cleared. Legacy “Remember on this device” snapshots are migrated into the saved-session model when possible. The installable app uses a service-worker cache for MergeGlass pages and application assets; source-file contents are not placed in that cache.
Site operation
The hosting and network providers used to deliver the website may receive ordinary technical request data, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, and timestamp, as part of standard security and server logs.
Analytics and cookies
Source files, pasted text, common-base text, merged output, and generated patches stay in your browser and are not sent to MergeGlass or Umami. MergeGlass uses Umami Cloud for anonymous website and product analytics. Umami receives ordinary anonymous measurements such as page URL/path, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate country.
MergeGlass only sends allowlisted product events with controlled numeric/categorical properties: comparison_started (mode, size, format, lines), comparison_completed (mode, changes, lines), resolution_selected (choice, mode), combined_copied (mode, changes), combined_downloaded (mode, changes), patch_copied (mode, changes), patch_downloaded (mode, changes), demo_loaded, workspace_restored, promotion_clicked (promotionId, placement, promotionType), multi_file_session_started (fileCountBucket, sessionMode), review_bundle_imported (fileCountBucket, sessionMode), review_bundle_exported (fileCountBucket, sessionMode), file_review_completed (fileCountBucket, completedFiles, unresolved, sessionMode), workspace_cta_clicked (placement), guide_cta_clicked (placement, destination), outbound_link_clicked (destinationHost, placement), and file_error (slot, reason). Event payloads do not include filenames, file paths, source content, merged content, patch text, raw errors, stack traces, clipboard data, or user/session identifiers.
The Umami integration does not use tracking cookies, does not enable session replay, and is used to understand adoption, successful merge completion, operational errors, and which capabilities are most useful. Analytics data is not used to reconstruct source code or identify individual users.
Advertising on informational pages
MergeGlass may use Google AdSense on marketing, guide, and other informational pages to help fund the free service. Advertising code is not loaded on the comparison workspace at /app/, where files and pasted text are processed. Source contents, filenames, merged output, and patches are not provided to Google for advertising.
When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, IP address, browser and device information, page URL, ad interactions, and similar data to deliver, measure, limit, and protect ads. Depending on your region and consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Google’s own privacy practices and advertising controls apply to that processing. Where required, a Google-certified consent message will be shown before optional advertising storage or personalization is used.
Your choices
You can use browser privacy controls, clear site data, block third-party cookies, or use available Google ad settings. Blocking advertising does not prevent use of the comparison workspace. If a consent message is shown, use its privacy options to review or change the available choices.

Links to external websites are governed by their own privacy practices. This notice may change as MergeGlass evolves; the effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
